My name is Eunice Adeboyeku. I am a registered practical nurse with 18 years experience in the community working as a wound care nurse. I have seen how the older population struggle with taking care of their toenails/feet and the complications that come with it. 

A particular situation that comes to mind is that of a diabetic patient that trimmed his toenails, but was not aware that he had cut his own skin (due to neuropathy) thereby creating a wound that got infected with further complications. He was hospitalized for some months and eventually lost some toes. 

The situation could have been avoided if he got proper foot care from a professional. I got inspired and went back to school for an advanced foot care program. I have worked as a foot care nurse for three years.
